A video of the Falcon-class Light fighter (may change the name, doesn’t sound exotic or trek enough).
This video shows how I envisage the wings to fold up for storage and landing.

Ok, sorry for the spamming but I’ve done some more work on the Zerina-class. Improved the cockpit/bow, added beams across the windshield and adjusted the topology. Also I fiddled with the dorsal wings and considered making them the warp nacelles. In the end I removed what I’d done and focused again on getting their topology right, but I like that idea so they will be the warp engines.
I previously added the cabin hatch, adjusted the wings to be polyhedral, fiddled with the engine bay, and added both pulse phaser canons as well as the rear type X phaser array (the dome on the dorsal stern).
More work on the two fighters. they are now the Zerina-class heavy fighter (larger one) which is based off of the fictional Jin’tho-class runabout. The other is the Falcon-class light fighter. Later i’ll post some of the back story I’ve been writing.
Two Star Trek Federation fighters I just sketched up in 3ds max.
In Star Trek, star fighters are often completely absent because of the maneuverability and power that the star ships themselves posses. In an idea I brought up with a friend, a possible future scenario for the federation would be one where they needed to reestablish a marines service. This would necessitate a lot of new hardware the feds wouldn’t have needed for possibly centuries on such a scale. Air superiority fighters would be one of them. As a result, and fighters added to the fleet would have to be compatible with current federation star ships and be able to be stored and maintained without the need for dedicated and costly carrier ships to be constructed. I kept this in mind when designing these two ships.
The larger blue one is designed along the lines of the Scout Ship from ST: Insurrection. A larger, more solid looking ship. This would give it the ability to have a large reactor power source, giving it great speed, shields, phaser weapons power and warp power. It would be heavily armed and function more as a Beyond Visual Range type of engagement, firing torpedoes from a distance to attack targets rather than actually dogfighting.
The second one is a concept idea I’ve had for a while since watching the Dust 541 trailer. The ships in it inspired me to make a very angular and blase like ship, with moving parts and a non aerodynamic style. This would be a one man fighter as opposed to the above (which would probably be at least 3), able to fold up much tighter. Thus any star ship could easily carry a dozen of these.
Additional trek posters. these are more of the supplementary races, and I think I’ve run out of races to do. Because I’m just making these quickly and not using illustrator to create the symbols (like i should) i’m sourcing the images from the internet. And with these more obscure races, its hard to find high res versions of their symbols.

Ok, I made that Borg poster, then a while later decided to do a federation one. Then it was really easy so I went and dd all of the major races from Star Trek. I still think the Borg one is the best, because the intent was to only imply that it was the Borg and keep it mysterious. Someone who doesn’t know much about trek wont know what it is. Kind of how Enterprise tried to masquerade as not star trek for the first season.

Rarg! I Love Star Trek Online but it’s like an old lawnmower on a cold day to start up sometimes! Don’t know if its just me or something wrong with their patch server. Dammit, I want to level my blue captain so i can blind my enemies with Science!
Been working on the ship a bit more over the weekend, in blatant regard for upcoming exams. But to be fair, this is turning into one of my best projects yet, so its at least going into my portfolio.
Modified the secondary section a bit more and added rings to the stern of the nacels, but the big changes tis time was the neck and shuttle bay. I modified the neck again so that it now works for saucer seperation, similar to the galaxy-class. Added the impulse engine, a single mid neck one for the ship cause its only small. Added a few more escape pods, some to the neck, ventral secondary and ventral saucer. I booleaned out the stuff clipping into the shuttle bay so its now hollow, but I’ve yet to add a door yet.
As this continues i’m going to eventually have to face the problem of combining these currently numerous different objects into the one model, removing unseen vertices and unwrapping the model. So far the unwraps I’ve tested seem very simple because of the shapes of the model, but as for combining it into one, I’ve yet to find a good way. faced the problem with my Ulysses submarine model and Thunderbird 1 model. I may elaborate later.
Probably another hour’s work on the ship. Most of that was sunken into sculpting the neck. And woo-boy, was that fun! Probably one of the more complex shapes i’ve successfully modeled. The problem was getting a smooth flat back, and the complex concave curving of the front-side sections. Took ages but actualy succeeded in the end.
Other than that I’ve built a simple torpedo launcher, placing one in the base of the neck and one at the stern in the picture. I’ve also added a rim to the secondary section, cleaned up the underside mesh, continued work on the shuttle bay and added simple escape pods and phaser strips.
About one and a half hours work tonight, made from scratch. Again, this is my effort to keep my skills from rusting. It started out as just a generic star trek ship, which quickly was looking like a bad idea because a generic ‘enterprise-ish’ ship usually looks crap and generic (go figure). thankfully i managed to morph it into a sort of post-voyager light cruiser by playing with the proportions. after that the ship seems to be falling into place nicely. I’ve yet to add in smaller details such as life boats, thrusters, phaser strips, sensor pads, shuttle-bay, reactor ejection hatch, torpedo tubes, and anything else that my troubling knowledge of trek ships has forgotten.
The Starhawk-class lightcruiser began development in 2375 and was the result of starfleet’s request for star ship role. This ship was intended to operate in tandem with Intrepid-class ships, and would benefit from the various technologies that the class pioneered such as emergency medical holograms, bio-neural gel packs and advances in warp drive. Whilst the Intrepid was aimed at undertaking survey or patrol missions where a larger ship such as a Galaxy or Sovereign was unnecessary, the Starhawk was designed to operate on missions closer to the core of the federation rather than the frontier regions. The cruiser was also designed to serve the role of Light cruisers during war time with the intention of replacing front-line Miranda units which were more than decimated during the dominion war despite their admirable performance. By using simpler construction methods and proven technologies, Starhawks were seen as a utility ship in peacetime, and a ready warship in war time. More than two hundred ships have been ordered as NCC-75611 to NCC-75832.
If only i could find a way to make money from my improv’ writing, i would be a wealthy man!
